A disheveled Al appears and berates Sam for not stopping Dirk and Beth from meeting and says Beth gets the Navy to declare her husband dead and marries Dirk. Skaggs gives the same impression to Dirk about Beth. Sam startles Beth by knowing her name and makes her think Dirk is under investigation. They come upon Beth and Dirk, and Sam takes over changing the tire, while Skaggs “questions” Dirk. Skaggs questions how Sam knows that a woman he's never met, Beth, will meet a lawyer as she tries to change a flat tire. Meanwhile, Sam and Skaggs drive toward the marina. The woman is Beth Calavicci (played by Susan Diol) and he is Dirk Simon (played by Norman Large). A stranger comes up and tries to help her out by changing the tire. The man she marries she meets on April Fool's Day, 1969.Ī young, pretty woman cries as she tries to fix a flat. By that time, Beth has moved on and married again. pilot, who is being held by the VietCong and won't be repatriated until 1973. Al informs Sam that her husband is an M.I.A. Al suddenly gets very serious and tells Sam he is there to stop a woman named Beth from making a huge mistake. Sam has leaped into Jake Rawlins, a newly promoted detective in the San Diego Police Department, who is partnered with Sgt. Al is waiting for him and gives Sam the facts about his leap. Sam, still in heels and a skirt, gets several whistles from the other police officers. Skaggs and Sam return to the police precinct locker room. He tells Sam that you get one freeze up and still get to live to talk about it. Skaggs tells Sam about freezing up in Vietnam after seeing a naked baby on the trail, which ended up being a set up for an ambush. Sam realizes he is an undercover cop in drag and not a woman. An undercover cop, who is identified as Skaggs (played by Jason Beghe) also joins the fray, while Sam hide behind a dumpster. A cop car pulls up and a gun battle ensues between the two armed men and the police. Upon seeing Sam, they point their guns at him and call him a narc. Two armed men run into the alley from one of the buildings. He opens his purse and finds a walkie-talkie and a gun. He examines his reflection in a cracked mirror in the alley and sees what appears to be a fairly homely woman. He laments being in heels and being a woman again. But as the leap goes on, he becomes less and less sure if that is the reason he is there.Īpril 1, 1969: Sam leaps into San Diego wearing heavy make-up, a mini skirt, and heels and smoking a cigarette in an alley. Is it possible that this future leap sees Ben as Ben? Did Ian leap and get herself stuck in that particular leap knowing that Ben would soon arrive? Remember how Stawpah was able to leap once Sam served as “safety inspector”.Sam leaps into police detective Jake Rawlins (played by Doug Bauer) and is set to save a woman from marrying another man while her husband is M.I.A. The unequal abundances of matter and antimatter that allowed this to occur is an unexplained effect known as baryon asymmetry. After its initial expansion, the universe cooled sufficiently to allow the formation of subatomic particles, and later atoms. There remain aspects of the observed universe that are not yet adequately explained by the Big Bang models. Detailed measurements of the expansion rate of the universe place the Big Bang singularity at an estimated 13.787 ☐.020 billion years ago, which is considered the age of the universe. A wide range of empirical evidence strongly favors the Big Bang event, which is now essentially universally accepted. In 1964 the CMB was discovered, which convinced many cosmologists that the competing steady-state model of cosmic evolution was falsified, since the Big Bang models predict a uniform background radiation caused by high temperatures and densities in the distant past. Extrapolating this cosmic expansion backwards in time using the known laws of physics, the models describe an increasingly concentrated cosmos preceded by a singularity in which space and time lose meaning (typically named " the Big Bang singularity"). However, physics currently lacks a widely accepted theory of quantum gravity that can successfully model the earliest conditions of the Big Bang.Ĭrucially, these models are compatible with the Hubble–Lemaître law-the observation that the farther away a galaxy is, the faster it is moving away from Earth. The overall uniformity of the Universe, known as the flatness problem, is explained through cosmic inflation: a sudden and very rapid expansion of space during the earliest moments. These models offer a comprehensive explanation for a broad range of observed phenomena, including the abundance of light elements, the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation, and large-scale structure. Various cosmological models of the Big Bang explain the evolution of the observable universe from the earliest known periods through its subsequent large-scale form. The Big Bang event is a physical theory that describes how the universe expanded from an initial state of high density and temperature. In typography and lettering, a sans-serif, sans serif, gothic, or simply sans letterform is one that does not have extending features called 'serifs' at the end of strokes. The MLC also included a second version of ‘W’ created by overlapping to ‘V’s. From left to right: a Ming serif typeface with serifs in red, a Ming serif typeface and an East Asian gothic sans-serif typeface. The alphabet was printed with no punctuation, and therefore all punctuation and characters have been created by the MLC, using existing versions as a guide. The MLC designed two extra weights, “Wide” which contains much broader geometry and near circular round letters like ‘O’ and ‘C’, and a “Regular” weight which is an exact average of the other two. In this version 2.0, some outlines of the letters m and a have been corrected, some signs and distance from the underline to the main body of the letter. The lower horizontal strokes on ‘E’, ‘L’, ‘Z’, and ‘2’ are unique to this style, and the long tail of ‘Q’ which drops very deep below the baseline is also a distinguishing characteristic. The version drawn for the book was a condensed Commercial Gothic, having a very narrow geometry, something not common among Commercial Gothic alphabets. The Century Gothic font family is useful for headlines and general display work and for small quantities of text, particularly in advertising. Because many of the lettering styles included in the book were based on existing alphabets, it is unknown at this time if the Commercial Gothic was original in design or a derivative of another. The chapter on lettering was written and drawn by Mike Johns and Ricky Tichy of the Johns-Carabelli Co. This alphabet was printed in a series of lettering examples for the memorial industry in the 1982 American Monument Association book Symbols: The Universal Language. It also pairs well with modern or minimalist design, art deco design, and due to its simplicity works well when used as engaged or raised lettering. This style of letter should be used when legibility rather than beauty of form is most desired or needed. After it was printed as an example alphabet for the memorial industry in 1982, it was digitized in various monument design software including Craftech, Gerber Omega, and Monu-Cad. This alphabet was designed for sandblasting, but could easily be used for hand carved v-cut letters. All three weights are included in the download.
